Avontuur Estate, commonly referred to as, “the home of fine wine and fast horses”. Nestled against the Helderberg Mountains between Stellenbosch and Somerset West, one can expect to be captivated by the exquisite views over False Bay and the iconic Table Mountain, with a magnificent backdrop of the Helderberg Mountain Range.
Avontuur Estate produces 2 wine ranges, a Methode Cap Classique Brut and a pot-stilled, hand-crafted brandy.
The wine cellar at Avontuur Estate was built in 1986 and the first red wine bottled under the Estate name was the 1987 Pinotage. The first white was the 1987 blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Chenin Blanc and the first pink was the 1987 Blanc de Noir.
At Avontuur Estate we grow 3 white grape varietals, namely Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier, as well as 7 red varietals, namely Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Pinotage, Shiraz, and Petit Verdot.
The total Hectares under vines is 17 for the white grapes and 34 for the red grapes.
